Über mich
I am Harby-Bemmann, a filmmaker, anthropologist, and author living in Germany. My work lies at the intersection of storytelling, research, and activism, addressing topics such as intercultural connections, women’s rights, and environmental justice.
I hold a Master’s degree in Visual Anthropology, Media, and Documentary Practices from the University of Münster and have directed several short films in Egypt. In 2023, I co-founded a media production company in Germany with René Bemmann. Our first essay film, *The Last Letter to Nasser*, received a special jury mention at the Luxor African Film Festival.
I also write about memory, identity, and feminist history, and am co-author of Wings, Beyond the Borders (2023) and Grandmothers, the Richness of Memory (2024). In all my projects, I view storytelling as a collaborative act—one that listens deeply, resists oversimplification, and imagines a more just future.
I work in Arabic, German and English.
