Tito, Nasser & Nehru
Tito, Nasser & Nehru is a short essay film that begins as an anthropological exercise and turns into a reflection on communication, history, and solidarity. An Egyptian filmmaker and an Indian co-filmmaker set out to observe and document workers from Serbia, but faced a shared language barrier. In place of words, they relied on gestures, glances, and body language to connect.
The film uses the names of Tito, Nasser, and Nehru as a metaphor for this encounter—echoing the historical alliance between Yugoslavia, Egypt, and India through the Non-Aligned Movement. Through this parallel, the filmmakers draw a poetic connection between past political solidarity and their own small, human attempt at understanding across cultures.
